Banana Leaves
Banana leaves are the leaves produced by the banana plant (Musa paradisiaca). Banana leaves in the culinary of the archipelago have a major role as supporting decorations, complements, and packaging of food ingredients. In addition, banana leaves are also used in various religious activities in almost all regions in the archipelago. This tradition is also known in many places in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Banana leaves contain large amounts of the same polyphenols as tea leaves, in the form of EGCG, which produce a distinctive aroma when used as a food ingredient.
